Camp Oest is the BSA nationally accredited summer resident Cub Scout camp of the Baltimore Area Council, Boy Scouts of America.  Every summer our enthusiastic, outgoing, top notch staff works together to produce a Cub Scout program that will ‘knock the patches off you’.   Each year we have a different theme, unique to Cub Scout Camping and in 2010 we are excited to be ‘Bringing the City to the Country’.  We invite you and you’re Cub Scouts (individual, family, den or pack) to join us as we travel to different cities across America all without leaving our campground.  Our previous Cub Scout participants will assure you that you will be consumed in program all day long and all you need to pack for your visit to Camp Oest are your sleeping bag, clothes and swim suits!  Leave the rest to the fabulous Camp Oest Staff.

See YOU at Camp Oest in 2010!

Camping Options

At every session, Cubs will participate in instructional and open swimming, rowing or canoeing, shooting bows and arrows and BB guns, handicraft projects, and nature activities. Webelos will also participate in Scoutcraft and a special overnight outpost called Project MOOSE. Program runs daily from 8:00 a.m. through 9:00 p.m.

The primary purpose of Camp Oest is for Cubs to have fun and experience new things. However, opportunities will be available for advancement in many of the activities they will do.

Pack & Den Camping

Packs and Dens are encouraged to attend Camp Oest as a unit. Large Packs will be placed in their own campsite, while smaller Packs and Dens may share a campsite with other units. This is an excellent opportunity for the boys in your Pack or Den to bond and have fun together.

Mid-Week Camping (Sessions 2-4-6-8)

These four-day/three night sessions offer the “traditional” Camp Oest program. Scouts rotate through program areas on Thursday and Friday and enjoy special activities in the evening.

Weekend Camping (Sessions 1-3-5-7)

These three-day/two-night “weekend” sessions are perfect for working parents to take their son to camp! Enjoy three days of fast-paced fun and excitement rotating through all of the program areas.

Parent & Son Camping

You can still bring your son to Camp Oest even if your Pack doesn’t come! Parent-son pairs are welcome to camp during any of the Pack and Den sessions. Everyone that does not attend with a Pack will be placed together in a campsite and participate in the program as a provisional Pack.

Program offerings are exactly the same for parent and son campers as for Packs and Dens (Sessions 1-8).

Family Camping

Looking for an ideal family vacation? We invite brothers, sisters, grandparents, aunts and uncles to join you and your Scout for four days of quality family time! Program offerings are the same as the traditional four-day session, but the schedule is more relaxed to accommodate a wide age range and more free time for family togetherness.

Webelos Camping

The last week of the summer, Camp Oest is proud to provide a program exclusively for Webelos Scouts! They begin the week visiting all of the program areas and doing many of the same activities offered in the previous sessions.

The week heats up half-way through as special Webelos-only programs begin! They will have the opportunity to participate in a conservation project, visit and tour a Boy Scout camp, and take a field trip to the Susquehanna River for boat races.
