Regrettably, Broad Creek has decided to postpone all summer camp operations to 2021. This was based on guidance form the CDC, the State of Maryland, and our BAC COVID-19 Taskforce. Knowing how important an outdoor experience is to our youth, we will continue to monitor state and local guidance with the hope of being able to offer small-group gatherings later in the summer. To start, we will be opening Broad Creek as a campground for our Scouting immediate families/households.

When can my family come to camp?

Broad Creek (both Camp Saffran and Camp Oest) is opening its gates starting in July for family camping. As shown above, we are offering two sessions a week for registrations. One is during the week, noon Tuesday to noon Thursday. The other is noon Friday to noon Sunday. This schedule starts with a weekend session on July 3rd.

When will August registrations be live?

Registrations for go live on July 17th for the month of August. This is in hope of allowing Troops to reserve space at camp.

How does my family signup?

Once you determine what session you would like to attend, click that date in the above chart to register. Registrations will be made for a campsite type (Saffran Cabin, Saffran Adirondack, Oest Campsite, etc.), and a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd preference will be asked.

What does my reservation include?

Each family/household will be reserving its own campsite at Camp Saffran or Camp Oest. We will not be placing multiple groups into one campsite. Each campsite will its own space for tents, food prep, fire circle, latrine/port-a-potty, and wash stand. Individual campsite types include:

  • Saffran Cabins - cabins with 9 bunk-beds (recommended to sleep in personal tent outside), commercial stove and refrigerator, 3 basin sink, and stainless food prep areas.
  • Saffran Adirondacks - 3 walled structures with picnic tables and a pavilion, and a residential refrigerator.
  • Oest Bunk House - cabin with 15 bunk beds (recommended to sleep in personal tent outside), 2 private bathrooms (one with shower), no kitchen.
  • Oest Campsites - campsite with pavilion that has picnic tables.
  • Houck Lodge - cabin with 15 bunk beds (recommended to sleep in personal tent outside), commercial stove, refrigerator, stainless food prep areas, and 3 private bathrooms.

Will program be provided?

?At this time, no program areas will be run at Broad Creek. We have two fishing areas (which have fish!) and over a dozen of hiking trails available for families to utilize!

Can my Troop signup?

Not at this time. Currently, the State of Maryland Roadmap to Recovery does not allow for us to open camp to groups outside of the immediate family/household. As this restriction loosens, we look to open opportunities for Troops to attend.

What procedures and precautions are put in place to help prevent the spread of COVID?

Click here for Broad Creeks COVID Campers Guide as of 6-30-2020. This document might see revisions due to changes made by the State of Maryland, the most up to date version will always be at this link.
